How can a
Free Tour
be one of the
best in the
world?
Belgrade Free Tour operates on a tips-based free walking tour concept, which means our guides are motivated to deliver tours that are informative, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable. Each guide puts great effort into sharing local knowledge, stories, and insights in an entertaining and enthusiastic way, ensuring that every tour provides real value to visitors.
While participation in the tour is free, it is important to understand that our guides rely entirely on tips as their only form of compensation. They do not receive a salary or additional payment from Belgrade Free Tour or from any other institution. For this reason, tips play a crucial role in supporting the people who bring the city’s history, culture, and everyday life closer to travelers.
The idea behind the Belgrade Free Tour model is simple: the tip reflects both the quality of the tour and the traveler’s budget. Guests are encouraged to tip what they feel the tour was worth to them personally. We believe that experiencing Belgrade through the eyes of passionate local guides creates meaningful memories—and that this experience naturally inspires visitors to reward the tour accordingly.
Reservations are required for free walking tours since we care about your safety. We insist on keeping our tours as interactive as possible, which is why prior notification of a company exceeding 10 people is helpful. Even though short notice tours are possible, reservations are required.
Reservations are required for private and tours in languages other than English.
*All tours are provided in English.
*Rain or shine all tours run as schedules.

“I participated with my friends at a free tour with the guide Nevena and we loved it! To be honest I didn’t like much the city of Belgrade but with Nevena I learn a lot about the history and the local customs and I enjoyed a lot the tour. Thank you!”

“Tamara’s freetour was very informative and also a nice walk through the city. The longer it lasts, the better, I say. One thing I learned while travelling is to take the freetour information with a grain of salt. Numbers especially can easily be overblown. For example, I checked the claim that 70% of Serbian men were killed during WW1. The correct number – for the whole population is between 16.67% and 27% – which still makes Serbia the country with the highest death per capita, by far. The claim that Belgrade was razed to the ground 44 times is actually true! Tamara was very helpful and friendly and I would recommend her highly.”

“We went on the Yugoslavia tour with Nevena and absolutely enjoyed it! She was very knowledgeable, open to questions, honest and spontaneous. The tour was very well structured, we found out a lot about the period of Tito and got a sense of those times. The only thing I would change is the tour end, I felt it was a bit rushed, the period after Tito’s death being explined in only a few minutes, because the 3 hours had passed. Maybe too much spent at the museum. All in all a great tour to get another feel of Belgrade!”

“We had two amazing tours with Dragona. The first was around Belgrade itself learning about much of the history culture architecture places to go and where to eat. The second was a tour of Belgrade’s history and the turbulent times during and after the Soviet era. Dragona was very knowledgeable and was able to answer our many questions. I would thoroughly recommend touring Belgrade with Dragona. She knows her topics and her passion for her city is infectious..”

“I spent a very eventful afternoon with Jelena in Belgrade. She guided a great sightseeing freetour in the old town, and told a bunch of interesting stories, background infos about the history of this beautiful city and sharing some emotional interesting facts about 90’s years that in Eu countries nobody told us.
Last but not least she suggested us the best restaurants to be visited.”
